Digital radiology is invaluable to our practice. It is another helpful diagnostic tool, allowing us to give your pet the best care possible. Digital radiographs (X-rays) provide important information to veterinarians on your pet's internal health. Whether they want to determine bone strength, see where a foreign object is lodged, or get a peek at internal organs, tissues and more, X-rays are the go-to tools. For more information about our X-ray services or to book an appointment, feel free to call us at (416) 351-1212.

Should I be worried about radiation from X-ray machines?

Many pet owners do not like to do radiographs. They worry about the radiation. However, the use of radiology is safe, and our entire staff is highly trained. Radiology is a common diagnostic practice for both humans and animals. With the use of digital radiology, the amount of radiation is drastically reduced.

My dog is very anxious. Can I stay with my pet during the X-ray?

Our veterinarians, technicians, and staff are well-trained to care for patients and ensure their safety. When pets are anxious or agitated, we do our best to help them stay calm and undergo the procedure. However, if they are unable to sit still (which is required to get a clear image), we use mild sedation or anesthetic to help them undergo the procedure. Due to radiation exposure, we cannot allow pet parents to accompany their pets to the X-ray room. We take all the necessary steps to ensure that your pet undergoes the procedure without anxiety or pain.

Does your hospital offer ultrasound services as well?

Yes, we can offer ultrasound services as well. We do not have an ultrasound machine at the hospital, but whenever required, we can have a service come in to provide ultrasound services.
