Dr. Olenka Batruch

Hi there!

I am Dr. Olenka Batruch and I have been a full time veterinarian at Front Street Animal Hospital since graduating veterinary school in 2012. I have wanted to be a veterinarian my entire life and am thrilled to be practicing good quality veterinary medicine with an exceptionally talented staff team in the heart of beautiful Toronto.

I graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science, Psychology Neuroscience Specialization in 2007. After a year as a research assistant at a feline visual neuroscience lab I began my studies at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph where I graduated with Honors in 2012. I am constantly reading about and trying out the newest approaches available as I believe in continuous reassessment and improvement in the field of veterinary medicine.

In 2015 I adopted a large handsome orange cat named Dave who was a former blood donor from one of our favorite specialist referral clinics Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic.

In my spare time I love to cook, camp, cycle and take part in various events in the Ukrainian and general Toronto community with some good company. Я також розмовляю по Украінськи. The bond between a pet owner and their pet is something I find inspiration in and I feel very lucky to view this on a daily basis. I am very excited to meet you and your pet and to hear your stories!

Dr. Sarah Wright

Hi there!

My name is Dr. Sarah Wright. I grew up in Unionville, Ontario, and I’ve always had a lifelong interest in working with animals and becoming a veterinarian. I graduated with Honours from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016, after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Guelph.

I have been working in the veterinary field since high-school, where I have gained a wide variety of experience working with dogs, cats, and large animals. Some of my most memorable experiences include working for 2 years in the small animal ICU at the Ontario Veterinary College, and treating sick and injured elephants for a summer at two different wildlife rescues in Thailand.

I believe in practicing the highest standard of veterinary medicine, and I am excited to do so alongside a skilled and supportive team at Front Street Animal Hospital.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing sports, and travelling. I am a proud pet parent of a senior (yet spunky!) orange and white cat named Oliver. I am excited to meet you and your beloved furry family member!

Dr. Kris Szabo

I am very excited to be joining the front Street Animal Hospital team this fall of 2016. I graduated from the Ontario veterinary college in 1999 and have worked as an associate in general practice and emergency medicine. Working as a relief veterinarian over the past 10 years has given me a lot of experience but it is a pleasure to settle into this great practice.

I love to play sports in my spare time, especially tennis in the summer and snowboarding when the snow flies. In my photo you can see Bella, my only pet at this time. I brought her home from a clinic for a long weekend and she has stayed for 18 years.

I look forward to meeting you!

Practice Manager/Registered Veterinary Technician
My name is Krista, I am the Practice Manager and Registered Veterinary Technician here at Front Street Animal hospital. I graduated from Seneca College with honours in 2007 and have been practicing as a technician ever since.

I joined the Front Street team in February of 2012 and have thoroughly enjoyed caring for all the pets of City Place and look forward to many more years of quality care and service in the area.

On my spare time I enjoy personal fitness, scrapbooking and hanging out with my family.

While most of my experience lies with small companion animals I have also worked with exotics and wildlife. I have a special interest in nutrition and have been registered as a Pet Food Ambassador with Purina Veterinary Diets and I am a Nutritional Advocate for Hills/Science Diet. Feel free to call Front Street Animal hospital to arrange for a complimentary dental assessment or nutritional consultation with me anytime.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Hi there, my name is Victoria, I am a Registered Veterinary Technician at Front Street Animal Hospital. I graduated from Seneca college with honours in May 2016, and have worked at Front Street Animal Hospital since then. I have always had a love for animals, and knew that I wanted to pursue a career with them.

I was born and raised in Toronto, and I am the youngest in my family. My furry family at home consists of my 4 cats: a tortie named Abriel (she has what I like to call tortitude), my wonderful black kitty named JJ ( he gives the best head boops), and my two grey cats, Rathbone, and Sydney.

When I’m not working, I like to read, watch movies, or hang out with my friends.

I look forward to meeting all of your furry family members, and learning a great deal, in this field that I love.

Registered Veterinary Technician

My name is Meghan and I’m a Registered Veterinary Technician at Front Street Animal Hospital. I graduated from Sheridan college with honours in 2014 and have been working as a technician for about 2 years now. I’ve loved animals ever since I was little, and have always wanted to pursue a career working with them. I’ve worked for a few small animal practices and even had some experience working at an exotic animal clinic.

I have quite the menagerie at home, starting with the family cat, a black domestic medium hair named Salem. He’s 17 years old but he hasn’t realized that yet judging by how he acts. I also share my room with Calcifer, a 1 year old Spotted Python, 8-Bit, a 1 year old Ball python, and Brienne (or Brie) a 3 year old crested gecko.

When I’m not at work I am either taking care of my animals, drawing, going for a walk or playing video games.

I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Veterinary Assistant

My name is Dhivyah Ratnakumar and I am the Veterinary Assistant at this hospital. I have been working as a Veterinary Assistant for 6 years now. I am currently pursuing an Animal Biology Major at the University of Guelph and planning to apply to OVC in the near future. I have gained all my experience and skills both working and volunteering at various veterinary hospitals. I enjoy the company of animals and helping them is what I love to do best! My passion for animals grew at a young age and continued while doing my co-op placement at a clinic. I knew then, that I wanted to become a veterinarian and help those in need. Animals are marvellous beings, and all their qualities attracted myself to pursue into the Veterinary Medicine field. At the hospital, you can see me always closely interacting with your pets and handing out treats.
When I am not working at the hospital, I love spending time with my bunnies Hazel and Nugget, volunteering with animals, and spending time with her family and friends.

Veterinary Assistant

My name is Becca, I am one of the Veterinary Assistants here at Front Street Animal Hospital. I studied Child and Youth at Brock University and followed my studies to Australia where I worked at a day care and later as an au-pair (nanny) for three boys. Did I mention, they were all under the age of 6?! After 1 year abroad, I decided to peruse my first passion, pets.

I worked at a humane society in the Niagara region where I was able to assist and help with any sick and injured pets that came my way and I currently volunteer at the Etobicoke Human Society as the Volunteer Interviewer and Trainer. It was at EHS where I was able to hone my cat skills and learn the amazing and diverse personalities they have.

I have my own feline fuzzball named Oscar who enjoys planning his daily “prison” escape from the house every morning. But don’t worry he always makes it home for snuggles and food (but let’s be honest, its for the food.) At 4 years old he still is and always will be my baby.

I can’t wait to meet your furry friends

Customer Service Representative

Hello! My name is Alison, and I am a Customer Service Representative here at Front Street Animal Hospital. I was born and raised in a very tiny town about an hour east of the city called Newcastle. Following a placement in our local veterinary clinic during high school, you could say I got hooked on veterinary medicine! I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2018 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and Bioethics, but I have decided to head back to my alma mater to pursue a second undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with the hopes of attending the Ontario Veterinary College one day.

In the mean time, I am loving my position as a CSR here at Front Street. Not only do I get to learn more about veterinary medicine from our fantastic team, but I get to help out in caring for you and your furry family!

When I’m not at the clinic, I’m usually studying, or spending time with my wonderful ferret Cleo. On the weekends, I like to go back to Newcastle to see my family (including our Boston Terrier/Cocker Spaniel Toby), and to ride my horse, Sox.

I look forward to meeting you and your pet!

Animal Care Assistant
Hi there! My name is Jessica and I am an Animal Care Assistant here at the clinic. You can usually find me running around helping anyone who needs it, making the clinic look clean and tidy, or answering any questions you may have about our web store! I started working at Front Street Animal Hospital in 2014 and couldn’t be happier with my job!

Growing up I dabbled with different ideas of what I wanted to do as a career but ended up deciding on what I have always wanted to do since I was a child, work with animals. I graduated from Durham College in June of 2014 with a certificate in Animal Care and took everything I learned and have put it to good use here, helping your furry children!

I had many cats and dogs while growing up and any animal that was brought in to the home had a tendency to gravitate towards me. Currently I share my life with a diluted calico cat named Diva who certainly lives up to her name and truly believes the world revolves around her… Shhh, no one will convince her otherwise. She also has a younger sister of the canine variety named Lola, a Basset Hound/Shar Pei mix, who likes to keep everyone on their toes with her curious and excited nature.

I understand how important pets are to us and I can’t wait to meet you and your pet to help you with whatever you may need!

My name is Mario and I’m the groomer at Front Street Animal Hospital.

I’ve been a professional groomer for close to 10 years. I am originally from Mexico which is where I had most of my training. In Mexico, I groomed show dogs and have a specific interest in terrier cuts. I also do hand stripping. I’ve learned through my career that a good balance between knowledge of dogs and cats aesthetics and their behavior are essential to make pets and owners happy. I believe that it’s really important for future and current owners to understand their pet’s behavior in order to offer them a better life.

Grooming is an essential necessity for most of our pet’s health and they have to be exposed to it as soon as possible. I encourage owners to start brushing their puppies and bringing them for a quick clean up at a young age.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to music; painting; and reading while sipping a coffee. I always had several pets back in Mexico and I hope to get one of my own soon.
