The Difference Between Lost & Found

The procedure is simple. A tiny microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) is painlessly injected under the loose skin between your pet's shoulder blades, just like a vaccine.
The microchip's unique identification number and important information about you and your pet is then entered into the National Pet Registry.
If your pet is lost, the microchip I.D. number can be read by scanners at animal shelters across Canada. These shelters routinely scan all pets for microchip I.D. When a chip is detected, a recovery service will identify you as the rightful owner and you will be contacted immediately. Every year thousands of pets are returned home because of microchipping.
The microchip is made from biocompatible material and is completely safe. It is available at veterinary clinics across Canada.

Reasons to MICROCHIP your pet:

  • For animal lovers, there's no worse feeling than losing your pet
  • Tatoos are difficult to read, and tags fall off
  • Quick and painless identification
  • Inexpensive lifetime protection against loss
  • Many municipalities offer savings on licence fees for microchipped pets.
  • May be required for international travel.

33% of pets will get lost at least once in their lifetime. Don't wait until it's too late!

Microchip I.D. is recognized by:

  • The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association
  • The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies
  • The Canadian Kennel Club
  • Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
